North Carolina Youth Legislative Assembly

The North Carolina Youth Legislative Assembly (YLA) is a mock legislative session where high school students voice their opinions and vote on issues concerning local, state, and national government. Each youth delegate is a member of one of 10 legislative committee which discuss and recommend to the main assembly a bill relating to issues such as an act to establish state funded program that will decrease the rate of teen pregnancy.

This year, Thomasville High School sent 10 students to the conference. Sibussiwe Dlangalala was named co-chair of the 2014 Civil Rights committee.  Click here for more pictures.
